PROF. MODUPE OLAOGUN
Biography
Modupe Olaogun is an associate professor of English at York University, where she specializes in African and postcolonial literatures. An alumna of the University of Ibadan (B.A and M.A.), she earned a PhD from York University as a Commonwealth scholar. Professor Olaogun’s recent work includes ‘Lost,’ a play set in post-war Burundi; and a collaboration with Olabisi Gwamna, ‘Woman King,’ a new play about Chief Funmilayo Ransom-Kuti, which is scheduled to premiere in 2014. Professor Olaogun is the founder and artistic director of AfriCan Theatre Ensemble, which produces an annual season of professionally staged plays and school presentations in the Greater Toronto Area. From 2006 to 2011 she served as the Master of York University’s Stong College.
